Oxford Medical School Gazette
editors@omsg-online.com
The Oxford Medical School Gazette (OMSG) is the oldest medical school journal in the world. The Gazette is a biannual publication written, designed and produced by the students of Oxford Medical School for the enjoyment of students, doctors, alumni and academics. We print articles on the latest developments in medical sciences in Oxford and farther afield, with a healthy dose of opinionated contributions on what has been happening in medicine in the wider context, and the content of which reflects the broad, yet disparate viewpoints of the individuals studying, working and researching in this prestigious institute.
If you would like to find out more about the Oxford Medical School Gazette, please visit our website www.omsg-online.com or follow us on Twitter @OMSGazette. If you have a great idea and would like to submit an article proposal for our consideration then please email editors@omsg-online.com.

Hugh Cairns Surgical Society
benjamin.thurston
Trustees of The Hugh Cairns Surgical Foundation: Mr Ashok Handa, Ms Carolyn Cook, Dr
Jignesh Tailor
The Hugh Cairns Surgical Society is a society dedicated to two joint purposes: educating Oxford medical students about the possibilities of a surgical career, and raising money in aid of local charitable organisations. We believe that every Oxford clinical student should have the proper resources and education with which they can make the most informed decision regarding a career in surgery. We achieve this aim by holding regular seminars in different specialties of surgery with expert speakers, organising surgical experience days using surgical simulators, and providing educational support/resources for all clinical years.
Fundraising is a large part of the society; we also run the Hugh Cairns Surgical Foundation, which aims to fully fund a surgical elective in Oxford for a student from a developing country each year. We work towards this by organising memorable social events for Oxford clinical students. Previous examples include Christmas carol concerts and cake sales, alongside our annual surgical dinner.
Joining the society is a great opportunity to take responsibility for a project and really give something back to your peers and the local community. We are always looking for new faces and new ideas, so if you are interested or would like more information, please drop us an email.
